After the devastating loss of her 2-year-old niece, Leslie found herself in a deep depression that lasted for six months. In what felt like her darkest moment, her brother invited her to a football game, where the team introduced her to flag football, unknowingly changing her life forever. The sport became her sanctuary, and the community she discovered on the field became her lifeline.

"The support and love I received from flag football saved my life," Leslie shares. "It gave me focus and purpose to overcome my depression."

Leslie lives by the powerful motto, "If I go, we all go: I leave no one behind." This guiding principle has shaped not only her journey as a player but also her role as a leader. One of her proudest moments came when she rallied her team during a challenging tournament, helping a struggling teammate regain confidence and shine on the field.

"Seeing someone realize their potential and knowing I played a part in that is why I do this," Leslie says.

Balancing Three Teams Across Borders

Currently, Leslie plays for three teams across three countries:

• IRON MASK CANNES: Mixed and women’s teams in mainland France.
• CHELTENHAM WAYFINDERS: Women’s team in the UK.
• LADIES CANNERS / MADININA ALL STARS: Based in Martinique, France.

Managing commitments across these teams is no small feat, but Leslie’s dedication and passion keep her motivated. Each team offers unique qualities and perspectives, enriching her experience and reinforcing her belief in the power of diversity and teamwork.

• Learning from Legends

Leslie has had the privilege of learning from icons like Vanita Krouch, DK Metcalf, Diana Flores, and Deandre Hopkins.

"The most impactful lesson I’ve learned is to always bet on myself and to never stop learning," she reflects.

Now, as a mentor herself, Leslie opens doors for others, ensuring they have opportunities to thrive just as she did.

Beyond the field, Leslie is deeply committed to using sport as a vehicle for social change. Her projects focus on empowering isolated women, young people in her neighborhood, and those on her island who need to rebuild their confidence. "I’m not just playing for myself; I’m playing for everyone who dreams of something greater," she says.
