Founded in 1869, Claflin University was created to provide higher education to freed slaves and their children — becoming South Carolina’s first historically Black college. From its beginning, Claflin has stood for excellence, resilience, and leadership, shaping generations of changemakers who dared to dream bigger.

The TRONUS story is deeply tied to this proud legacy. Co-Founder and CEO Cynthia Cureton-Robles proudly follows in the footsteps of her grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-grandmother — all proud Claflin graduates.
